Dr. Wanjiru Mwangi is a dynamic Kenyan educator, researcher, and tech advocate dedicated to equipping African professionals with future-ready digital skills. As a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing and Informatics, University of Nairobi, she designs and delivers high-impact courses that merge global best practices with East African realities empowering students, entrepreneurs, and developers to thrive in an increasingly digital economy.

With a PhD in Computational Statistics from the University of Cape Town and over a decade of experience in academia and industry, Dr. Mwangi specializes in practical, accessible technology education. She currently teaches three flagship courses that reflect her mission: Mastering Python for Data Science, Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Developers, and E-commerce Strategies for Small Businesses.

In Mastering Python for Data Science, she guides students through real-world data challenges from analyzing agricultural yields to predicting mobile money trends using open-source Python tools like pandas, scikit-learn, and Matplotlib. Her labs often feature locally sourced datasets, ensuring relevance and impact.

Her Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Developers course demystifies security for emerging software engineers, focusing on secure coding practices, common web vulnerabilities (like SQL injection and XSS), and protecting user data in low-resource environments critical knowledge for Kenya’s booming fintech and healthtech sectors.

Recognizing that many graduates launch micro-businesses, she also created E-commerce Strategies for Small Businesses, a hands-on course that teaches aspiring entrepreneurs how to build online stores using Shopify and WooCommerce, run affordable digital ads, manage logistics, and safeguard customer transactions all tailored to the Kenyan and East African market.
